US Market Update
Dow Jones Increase Again, Nasdaq Slightly Decrease

US stock market was closed mixed in last night trading (26/9), with majority of bourses increased. Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and Standard & Poor’s 500 increase again for the second day, following the positive report from US economy. Meanwhile, Nasdaq Composite was closed slightly lower.



US government announce the improvement in unemployment rate by decreasing 24,000 claims to 406,000 claims last week, far better than the projection of the previous decrease by 4,000 claims. Meanwhile, US house sales rate in August increase by 1.9 percent.

DJIA increase significant by 2 percent, following the rally in last Wednesday. This is the first time that DJIA increase in two days in a row since September 9-10. The gaining blue chips are AT&T, Citigroup, General Motors, Exxon Mobil, and United Technologies. Meanwhile, stocks of Hewlett-Packard, General Electric, SBC Communications, IBM, and Microsoft decreased.

Nasdaq Composite slightly decrease by 0.68 point, led by stocks of network, chip, and hardware sector. Meanwhile, Standard & Poor’s 500 gained 1.8 percent.
