Ask a Question
Q: How much the minimum payment for purchasing the fix income mutual fund? How is the interest rate of this mutual fund? Will it be cut by tax and other fee? How long can the fund be cashed? (esetiomulyo @yahoo.com)
A: The minimum amount to buy mutual fund according to the Capital Market for Supervisory Agency is Rp 100 thousand. Yet, many securities companies implement minimum initial saving Rp 200-250 thousand.

The interest rate of fix income mutual fund, cannot be set as deposit because it depends on the portfolio of the mutual fund. The amount will be as much as the average bond-yield with rating A- after tax, or around 3-4% above SBI. However, the interest rate does not include capital gain/loss so that probably the yield of the mutual fund is more fluctuative than the money market instrument.

Investors then will receive fund that has already reduced by some fee: selling, management, redemption, and custodian fee, which is the income without tax. The fund can be cashed anytime, yet there is usually redemption fee the amount of which is in contrast with the length of time the fund reserved. In other words, the longer the fund reserved, the smaller the redemption fee will be or even zero.
