Ask a Question
Q: How will the price of a share change after a stock bonus? (wysnus@cbn.net.id)
A: When a company distributes stock bonus, say 2:1 which means every 2 shares will get 1 bonus share, it will cause outstanding shares add half time as before. The addition is not coming together with asset transfer (as happens with cash dividend). But this stock bonus will still cause price decrease due to theoritical price adjustments. For example: a share priced Rp 500, when distribute stock bonus of 2:1, will theoritically has a price decrease of 33% into Rp335 (Rp500 divided by 1.5).
